Summer travel boom: 82% of Americans plan to get away in 2024

82% of adults in the United States are planning to travel this summer. Among these travelers, 42% plan to embark on multiple trips.

52% plan to fly at least once this summer.

25% of Americans are ready to stamp their passports, with adults between 18 and 29 being the most likely to travel aboard. In contrast, 10% of Americans older than 60 have similar plans.

57% are opting to explore the beauty and diversity within the United States.

75% of adults are revving up to hit the road this summer, with those 45 to 60 leading the pack. Although many Americans will take shorter drives — less than 100 miles or less than 250 miles — 33% will take a road trip more than 250 miles from home. Approximately 5.82% will journey more than 1,000 miles.

The Fourth of July takes the lead at 30%, followed by Memorial Day at 22% and Labor Day at 19%.
